TRAINING HACKS WHEN TRAVELING

Traveling and going on vacation doesn’t mean you have to completely eliminate the habits you’ve been building with your training and nutrition, sleep, recovery, etc. Vacation is and should be about exploring the new environment, enjoying new cuisines, relaxing and resetting from your daily life. So how can we find balance on a vacation so when we get back we don’t feel like we are starting completely over?

Understanding yourself is the first step.  Many of you may have set the intention of “I’ll train in the hotel gym” when in fact it never happens. If you don’t train on your own now, there’s less chance you’ll do it on vacation.

  1. Find a gym that offers groups classes near your hotel. Most gyms offer a drop in class (some also offer the first class free) and attend. This is a great way to not only meet new people but to get great suggestions from the locals of what to do/view/eat.

  2. Stop in at the local Lululemon store to get the scoop of what fitness events are happening around town. They typically know of all things fitness related and even sometimes have classes inside the store.

  3. Find ways to not only explore the city or surroundings, but that includes movement. Rent bicycles to sightsee. rent a kayak or stand up paddle board to roam the rivers or lakes. Go on a hike to see breathtaking views from the top. Run through the city and get a real feel of your surroundings.

  4. Watch an At Home FST program video in your hotel room. Having our Coaches and members familiar faces to follow along with adds a bit of extra motivation to set aside 30-40 minutes in your day.

Don’t forget to bring a re-usable water bottle with you so you can stay hydrated anywhere.

Our habits can be carried on outside of our normal routine, as long as make it a priority. Any other tips you follow when traveling?
