Cardio Training Is Not The Same As Strength Training
Cardio Training is NOT the same as Strength Training.
Each form of training can offer massive benefits, which we’ll discuss below. For now let’s establish the definition of each.
Cardio Training
Short for cardiovascular, (think heart, blood vessels) is when our heart rate rises and stays high for a prolonged period of time. This then makes your respiratory system (think lungs, airways) to work a bit harder by breathing faster and deeper.
Examples of Cardio can include anything that raises the heart rate and increases breath such as cycling, running, or swimming. Prioritizes Cardiovascular and Respiratory System.
Strength Training
is when we use resistance, weights, plyometrics, bodyweight, or isometrics) against the muscular system in order for it to gain in strength. Muscles need to contract for it to work against the resistance, therefore requiring it to grow stronger.
Examples of strength training can be weight training, hypertrophy, resistance training, or anything providing additional force against the muscles.
Prioritizes Muscular system, skeletal system and central nervous system.
These are many more benefits that we did not list above.
So, both options are beneficial to incorporate in to everyones training.
This is why Pherforms Programming incorporates both of these in to their weekly programming:
Monday-Cardiovascular focused
Tuesday- Muscular focused
Wednesday- Muscular and CNS focused
Thursday-Cardiovascular and muscular focused
Friday- Muscular Focused
Saturday- Cardiovascular focused
