What to Expect From a Workout Class at Pherform?

Starting a new gym membership or starting to work out after a hiatus can be intimidating. You’ve made a promise to yourself to live a healthier lifestyle, but all you can think of is how long it’s been since you were “on track” and how hard the fitness journey it’s going to be. You may feel unsure if you can handle the workout or even dread how hard the classes will be.

Your fear of going to the gym or working out are completely normal. In fact, most of our members have been in your exact shoes. Our workouts are designed to challenge you, but our team of qualified will walk you through each movement in class. Through this article, we hope that we can share what to expect in our gym and workouts, and help alleviate some of your fears.

1. The Workouts Are Just Like Real Life

Don’t be intimidated by our workouts! The workouts are movements you already do in your daily life. These movements can be as simple as getting out of a chair, picking up your bag, or walking up the stairs. At Pherform, our workouts focus on similar movements that help you get fit. If you can do those basic movements, you can do our workouts!

2. You Start Slowly

We will teach you how to move safely and how to confidently add weight or intensity to your workout through our ramp program. We don’t want you to lift too much or go too fast in the beginning. Instead, our goal is for you to learn good form and proper technique while utilizing lighter weights until you feel comfortable enough to increase the intensity or weights.

3. The Focus Is on SHOWING UP

We encourage our members to show up to their workouts at least three times per week. It doesn’t matter how fast you run, how much you lift, or what you can do. The main goal of our program is to build good habits and encourage women to train consistently before adding intensity. Show up enough and you will end up in amazing shape.

4. Most of Our Members Started With No Experience

Our strongest and most committed members had zero experience when they first joined our gym. It’s hard to believe that when you watch them now, but some members had never touched a barbell, couldn’t do a single push up and felt unfit when they first started working out. Ask any of them what it was like when they started working out and they all say they were out of shape and TERRIFIED.

5. No Mirrors, No Judgement

Our gym is a judgement-free zone. We don’t care about how you look, how fast you complete your workout sets or how much you lift during training unless YOU do. This goes for coaches AND members. The other members in your classes are working so hard to improve themselves that they don’t have time to judge you. In fact, it’s the opposite…because most of us have been there, our community is all about supporting you in showing up, working hard, and achieving whatever goals that are important to YOU.

6. Track and Celebrate Your Progress With Us

You’ll notice that we celebrate times or weights on the app when you do your workout. We also encourage you to track them on our app. However, this is only because we want you to see how far you’ve come. If you do one push up on Day 1, then on Day 90 you do 10, yo want to recognize and acknowledge that progress. You only get that if you track your progress! (Note, this is not a requirement, some people are perfectly happy to never track a result and we support that, too!)

7. You Don’t Do Anything You Don’t Want To

Does your knee, shoulder, elbow, or neck bother you? No problem! We’ll change the workout so you don’t have to use them. Does the idea of box jumps scare the bejesus out of you? Let’s skip it and have you hop on a plate! The movements, times, and weights we put in our workouts are just suggestions. TAhe goal is for you to get a good workout that fits for YOU every single time. Your coaches are there to help adjust the workout to work for YOU.

8. What Would You Do Otherwise?

If we left it up to you, how would you create a workout program for yourself to get you in shape? Would you prefer to run? Walk? Go for a pilates or yoga class? Just diet more? How would you know if you were in shape enough? The goal of our program is to get you in the best shape of your life NO MATTER WHERE YOU START. If this is your goal, why would you start with anything else?
